  • Overview

    This is a senior individual contributor product management role at Syncsort that relies on a strong business acumen and ability to lead the management, negotiation and delivery of data content within our product portfolio. You will be a critical team member who can advise others about partner and account management, data provider requirements, contractual obligations, content rights and restrictions, licensing, pricing, royalty management, and operational aspects of our data services and related business. You will also evaluate customer requirements in relation to data content and you will recommend product changes so that Syncsort can win and keep customer business and remain competitive.

    You will be best positioned for this opportunity if you:

    • Possess 7+ years of product management experience in a data content organization
    • Have demonstrated an aptitude to work with 3rd party content vendors and partners, including managing relationships and negotiating content agreements
    • Are experienced in reviewing, negotiating and understanding content agreement, including working with legal teams on contracts


    • Data Services Partner/Provider Contract and Delivery Management
      • Through interaction with partners, providers, legal and sales teams, lead and manage the establishment and/or maintenance of key data provider/partner accounts.
    • Source new data and alternate sources of existing data.  Execute on new sources of data enrichment and associated obligations and royalties, as well as changes to enrichment source requirements and royalties, to ensure customer and Syncsort compliance for current and new use cases/products.
      • Foster innovation that helps streamline and manage costs, reduce risk, and increase opportunities associated with our data partners/providers.
      • Collaborate with cross functional team members to deliver business cases to support the investment and return to Syncsort and our customers. 
      • Cultivate an agile and results-driven culture in which superior quality is expected.
      • Partner with engineering to deliver an easy, intuitive and leading-edge contract experience for our customers and operational teams.
      • Partner with internal teams including Product Management, Development/Engineering, Finance, Legal, Sales, Sales Operations, Technical Field, Professional Services and Managed Services, Product Marketing, Marketing Communications, and Sales to drive and execute on the following:
        • Data services requirements
        • Solution positioning, including contractual requirements and obligations
        • Go-to-marketing planning including pricing, licensing, and royalties
        • Solution release including sales operations
        • Sales execution including use case review against contractual terms & conditions
      • Launch new data service products to drive customer interest, market awareness and ultimately pipeline.
      • Drive internal roll out activities to ensure sales, marketing, services, support, and account management all understand new or modified contracts and offerings in context.
      • Continual communication to the VP Product Management, executive team, and throughout the company.
    • Research competitive offerings and market needs to provide context and a deeper understanding of priority, value, pricing and licensing, contractual requirements and risk.
    • Serve as the internal and external evangelist for data service offerings, occasionally working with the sales channel, field teams, and key customers.  Support legal, sales, and marketing programs as the subject matter expert.
    • Recommend and implement new pricing and packaging alternatives for traditional on-premise licenses and cloud and SaaS offerings including required licensing and order fulfillment needs.

    • 7+ years of product management experience in a content organization is desired.
    • Self-starter with strong collaboration, negotiation, and interpersonal skills.
    • Experience working with 3rd party content vendors and partners, managing relationships and negotiating content agreements.
    • Experience reviewing, negotiating and understanding content agreement, including working with legal teams on contracts.
    • Understanding of and experience with content license and distribution principles.
    • Understanding of data services and enrichment business.
    • BA degree in a related field is desired
    • This position requires very limited travel to partner sites in North America and possibly Europe.
